93 and keeping it real!

My grandma is 93 and keeps it real on a daily basis! If you want to get put in your place you should talk with her sometime. I love her raw attitude and outlook on life. I haven't photographed her in about 8 years, so prior to going out west at the start of the winter I made it a point to do so.

This is where the US landed on the moon

Here are a few photos from my few hour experience through Death Valley, Ca. I was here for a short while then chased the light back to the highway and continued on to Mammoth Lakes, Ca.

Late arrival

I was aiming to shoot a bit of surfing this day but by the time my buddies made it out we blew the golden light hour. Oh well I decided to just chill out and watch them surf then grabbed a few shots. These shots are of Jesse.

This guy is Classic

So as I was being rowed around Dal Lake in Srinagar India, I saw this classic dude rowing himself around the lake while smoking a hookah. This was a first for me to see and probably for you to absorb also. This was shot on my last day of the trip before the 30 plus hours of traveling to get home.

People love to have there photos taken in India

I was so fortunate to travel to India for 2 weeks for shooting a story on behalf of Transfer Snowboarding. What I was super excited for this trip and to capture portraits as often as I could. A camera was always around my neck when driving or walking around the new area just wanted to capture unique people and there personalities. Also if someone wasn't into you photographing them all you had to do was apologize then show them an image of them and your back into shooting with them.

Cold days and colder nights in Minnesota

Here is a shot of Austin Young being sling shotted into a handrail after our bungee broke at midnight and we we not going to give up until we did work, or at least I wasn't driving anyone back to the hotel until I felt like we accomplished something. Notice how cold it was outside with his body heat lingering.

Cleaning the hard-drives

So today as I sat down to do much more cleaning of my hard-drives I was finding images I forgot about and some images which need to go directly to the trash can. There is something I like about this lifestyle of Shane Fortier that was shot outside of our hotel room in Mammoth during the Flow Team Shoot. Just wanted to share this with the E world.

In Mammoth for Superpark

Well it is that time of season when you want to and also need to light your soggy boots on fire and call it quits with the snow and time to start dabbling at the beach. After returning from a shoot where I was assisting with Cole Barash for some Nike Ads I am back in Mammoth Lakes where I will be posted up on the floor at the Florum House for some days to come. Left Colorado at 3am, fly at 6am to San Fran, then to Reno and do the necesarry 3,000 mile oil change on my drive to the next location. Get to Mammoth around 2pm and wallah on the Mtn by 3pm. Not having a lift ticket can't always slow you down so I through on my camera bag and hiked all the way up in time to shoot just before sunset. During Superpark it has now became a tradition for shredders from all over to go to mammoth and camp out in the desert at the hotsprings and commute to the mtn on the daily. This image is of Wyatt Caldwell who is the MAN when it comes to camping and is the one responsible for everyone having a good time.

After a nice long trip of racking up images there comes a time when one has to sit down and start chopping the pile in half to say the least. I got into my house around 2 am after a solid 24hr travel day. Started my edit at 5 am super jet lagged and continued throughout the day and into the evening. I have 1 more solid day of editing followed by color correcting. Tomorrow I am going to make time and post some more photos from the trip onto FlickR.

Travels Back Home

On the 31st I boarded up the plane in Munich, Germany at 2:30 in the afternoon, took it to my next stop chicago but of course the weather always sucks in Chicago so our pilot detoured us to Milluawkee for some gas because we circled chicago in the air for so long. 3 hours parked in a unexpected airport then got to chicago and for sure missed all the flights to San Francisco, grab my luggage and head to a hotel sleep for a few hrs then back to the airport bounced to San Fran wasn't allowed to get onto the earlier flight to Reno wait 6 hrs for a 2.5 hr drive. Land in Reno- Take a shuttle to a hotel near where I live in South Lake Tahoe and have a friend pick me up to finally get back to my house. The next morning was time to pack up my house into boxes and get a storage facility and then it was time to pack up and head to Mammoth for 2 days to do some shooting with friends and take a drive through the desert.

This goes out to the asshole who was mopping the floors in the subway station in Munich! After setting up for a experiment that I wanted to try so bad and being shut down by a janitor who claimed "how do I know your camera isn't a bomb", following his retarded 9-11 comment and stating that since we didn't have a permit to shoot it was in our best interest to leave before we get arrested. We pretended to pack our equipment up then relocated to another area of the station that wasn't as busy as where the experiment was going to take place. No I didn't get to accomplish nor re-attempt what the whole game plan was but fortunately we found a non busy hidden little corner that would work out just well.
